Gardai have issued a statement tonight following an incident that saw a man brandishing a knife in Carrickmacross earlier.
Gardai say they wish to reassure the public that they are aware of the incident which occurred in Carrickmacross this evening and has been widely circulating on social media.
They have confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is being held in Garda custody.
