Monaghan resident further remanded over alleged drugs charge

The non-national who has lived in Ireland since 2016 appeared at Monaghan District Court where the court was told DPP directions in the case were awaited.

A 30-year-old man charged with an alleged significant drug seizure has been further remanded on bail.
Saulius Vertelis with an address at 117 Riverside, Coolshannagh, Monaghan Town was charged in July 2025 over the seizure of MDMA tablets with an estimated street value of €235,000.
The Monaghan resident was released on High Court bail in September in relation to the charges that he faces.

The alleged discovery at the apartment,related to 27,500 ecstasy tablets with a street value of just over €235,000.
It’s also alleged that Gardai also discovered 50 grams of cannabis herb valued at €1,000 in a vehicle.
The non-national who has lived in Ireland since 2016 appeared at Monaghan District Court where the court was told DPP directions in the case were awaited.
Judge Raymond Finnegan remanded Mr Vertelis on continuing bail to appear again at Monaghan District Court on June 8th to allow for DPP directions.
