A leading meteorologist says it is 'disgraceful' that a Status Red warning was not issued to the Midlands during Storm Darragh. It comes as thousands have been impacted by the storm locally, with strong gusts of wind posing a risk to lives across the region.
As of now, 2,600 people across the region are still affected by power cuts.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said Met Éireann should move from a 'metric' to an 'impact' based alert system.
