Minister appeals to those with information over Carrickmacross death to come forward

The Social Protection Minister has appealed to anyone with information with regard to the discovery of a body in Carrickmacross yesterday to come forward. She says it's a sad day in Monaghan, as investigations continue into the death of the

25-year-old asylum-seeker, who was from Nigeria, was found at the entrance of the M Hotel, with serious injuries to his forehead. Gardai are trying to establish if he was assaulted before his death.

Cavan Monaghan Minister Heather Humphreys is appealing to anyone with information to come forward.  "I am very sorry to hear that person was found dead.

"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with his family. I would encourage anyone who knows anything about this incident to report it to Gardai," she added.
