There are concerns about the future of the unit.

The Education Minister says challenges with the provision of special needs education in north Monaghan will be worked through.

There were fears the Le Cheile ASD Unit at Edenmore National School would be forced to close as planning permission was refused for a permanent building due to concerns over flooding.

After a vocal campaign, the Department of Education says it's engaged CMETB in a bid to find a solution.

CMETB says work is now ongoing on finalising the project and a design team will then be appointed.

However, there is no timeline for it.
