An American man based in Monaghan has offered his advice ahead of the upcoming White House meeting.

Chaunce Hayden, who's a celebrity journalist, has met former President Trump one-on-one on many occasions.

He thinks that Taoiseach Micheál Martin should operate like a businessman to have a successful meeting.

He warns that approaching Trump confrontationally could backfire, and that flattery and recognition of his achievements are key.

Hayden also notes the importance of St. Patrick's Day, saying Trump values the holiday for its sense of unity.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning he said Micheál Martin has to "sell Ireland"
