A local councillor has expressed disappointment with a response received relating to a motion on Mental Health.
Bronagh McAree raised the issue of Mental Health at a recent meeting of Monaghan County Council.
She asked for the council to write to the HSE seeking an increased investment in early intervention mental health supports at community level, including youth and family based services.
The motion was passed unanimously and the letter was sent.
However, Cllr McAree expressed disappointment in the response she received, noting that the HSE needs to engage more with the topic, as demand for mental health supports continues to grow.
She added that mental health is just as important as physical health and expressed a want to write to the HSE again.
