The Department of Agriculture is devaluing cattle in Monaghan in a "backdoor move" that is "ridiculous" and "unacceptable". That's according to Monaghan Councillor Seamus

The Department of Agriculture is devaluing cattle in Monaghan in a "backdoor move" that is "ridiculous" and "unacceptable".

That's according to Monaghan Councillor Seamus Coyle, who was speaking after the publishing of the TB herd history risk statement.

He says this categorisation of herds will disproportionately affect farmers in the local region.

High rates of bovine TB have recently been detected in herds in parts of Cavan and Monaghan.

Speaking to The Wider View, Councillor Coyle explained what the TB herd history categorisations mean for farmers:
