Monaghan councillor seeks assurances that additional antennae aren't being installed on masts

Brian McKenna says there was a period last year when numerous vans were seen operating around a local mast.

A Monaghan councillor has called on the planning authority to take photographs of masts to ensure additional antennae aren't being installed.

Councillor Brian McKenna says there was a period last September when numerous vans were seen operating around the Killygoan mast.

Councillor McKenna added that residents raised concerns about this and he sought a report from the Local Authority's Planning office on the matter.

In the report, ESB said the vans were undertaking "significant maintenance works" on the mast and that all works have been carried out within the provisions of the Planning and Development Act.

At a recent Monaghan MD meeting, Councillor McKenna asked if photographs were taken "of what was on the mast prior to and after the works were carried out".

The Sinn Féin Councillor told Northern Sound that taking photographs before and after works would provide comfort to residents:
