Monaghan County Council has backed DkIT's bid to become a Technological University.
Staff from the IT have been travelling the region to get the support from local authorities, and they attended Monaghan's County Council meeting on Monday.
Currently 10 per cent of all students at the college come from Monaghan, and staff are working to meet all the metrics that would allow it to achieve university designation.

Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council Aidan Campbell said having a university within commuting distance would be of huge benefit for employment.
