Councillor Noel Keelan added that he has no confidence in the company due to its warning that there could be blackouts this winter.

Monaghan County Council has sent a letter of no confidence to EirGrid as a result of its approach to the North-South Interconnector.

Councillor Noel Keelan, who proposed the motion, added that he has no confidence in the company due to its warning that there could be blackouts this winter.

The Sinn Féin Councillor also proposed that the Local Authority issue a letter of no confidence in the Environment Minister, Eamon Ryan.

However, it was agreed to postpone this pending the release of a report into the Interconnector.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Councillor Keelan hit out at EirGrid's claim that it has "good relationships" with landowners who could be affected by the project:
