A Castleblayney councillor has urged visitors to Lough Muckno to take their rubbish home with them or use the bins provided.

Littering has become an increasing problem in recent weeks, and it's been revealed that Monaghan County Council spends over one million euro a year tackling this problem.

Aidan Campbell has called for people to have more respect for the park which "a lot of money has gone in to".

He added that local Tidy Towns groups do a lot of great work, only for some people to undo it by "throwing rubbish at their backside".

Councillor Campbell says adding more bins to the park isn't the solution.
