The increasing cost of ingredients and meat has some restaurants taking certain cuts and produce from their menu.
But Edmund Graham from ICSA - who spoke to Northern Sound today, says that costs have also increased for farmers.
He added that as a result, they too need their share if they are to continue producing top quality food.
Mr Graham said it makes no difference now if people start buying cheaper cuts of meat because farmers will have to paid for that produce in line with the cost of inflation.
It is costing €2 more to feed an animal now than it did this time last year, he added.
"We would hope that the factories and processors would treat us favourable," Mr Graham continued.
"But to be honest in the past, they didn't
"Prices could be slightly better but the processors don't want to give us any more for our produce."
