A Monaghan furniture maker is one of five winners of the prestigious RDS Craft Awards 2023.
Barry Todd from Emyvale was one of the five emerging talents who won prizes in the form of a 10,000 euro bursary grant for their development of craft and business skills.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Monaghan furniture maker says he will plough his winnings back into his business and workshop 'Studio Kinnard' where he creates refreshing Irish designs with a commitment to excellence in his craft.
He added that the RDS Craft Award is a major milestone in the development of his career:
"It's a brilliant award to win. Obviously €10,000 is a fabulous prize and then along with that it'll provide an ongoing business mentorship programme and opportunities with the design council as well to take my work further and start showing it internationally. So there's a whole package of supports that go with the award".
