Car and van owners across Monaghan are being advised by Gardai to lock and secure their vehicles.
The advice comes after a theft from a parked car at Old Cross Square in Monaghan town on Monday night.
A man was arrested and the property was subsequently returned to its rightful owner.
Gardai are also advising drivers not to leave valuables in their vehicles.
Meanwhile, Gardai in Cavan are investing a burglary in Mullagh that occurred on the 19th February last.
A number of items were stolen in the incident and have not been recovered.
"Entry was gained through a rear door," a garda spokesperson told Northern Sound.
"Two iPhones and two bank cards were taken.
"We would appeal to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact us."
