A Monaghan GP says that people need to continue to be aware of spreading illness as people start meeting up over the coming days.
It comes following reports today that admissions into hospital for the flu are falling, though very slightly.
Dr. Illona Duffy says this is a slight dip though people need to continue to be aware, as there will be a surge after Christmas as per usual.
She is warning that the difference this year is that there has been a higher number of flu cases before Christmas, so the surge will be bigger.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, she offered this advice for people who may be experiencing symptoms over Christmas.
