A Monaghan-based GP says she's seen a significant drop in the uptake of the flu vaccine in her practice over the last two years.
Dr. Illona Duffy says people who have an underlying condition, or are over the age of 60, shouldn't hesitate to get vaccinated.
Over one thousand people were in hospital on New Year's Eve, an increase of nearly 500 people compared to the week before.

Dr. Duffy believes we haven't hit the peak of flu season yet.
