A Monaghan GP says that while flu numbers didn't reach the levels the HSE initially feared, hospitals are still under huge pressure.
Dr. Illona Duffy said that a lot of people are still presenting with the flu and not responding or recovering from it and ending up with secondary infections.
She is warning people that the flu season is not over yet, with both adults and children presenting in GP surgeries, and some still being hospitalised.
She is reminding that this is adding to the pressure on hospitals as people are still presenting with the usual accidents and other illnesses as well.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Dr. Duffy reminded people it's not too late to get the vaccine.
