It is believed that a reluctance among people to test for the virus has led to the increase of infection rates.

A Monagahn GP believes people should stay at home when feeling symptomatic after 60 percent of patients at her clinic say they've had Covid over the past few weeks.

Dr Illona Duffy says a new variant of Covid across the local area has altered presentations of the virus.

The advice comes after official daily figures remain stagnant at between 12 to 14 thousand each day, with fears that a reluctance among people to test for the virus has led infection rates to increase.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, the local GP urges patients who are presenting symptoms to stay at home and take numerous antigen tests in order to reduce the spread of Covid.
