A Co. Monaghan man has outlined how he ended up working as an Irish language translator for the European Commission.
Monaghan native, Cillian McCabe, went to Coláiste Oiriall, before studying the language in University.
After college, Cillian moved to Brussels where he worked in the Commission's translating office for several years.
He is now going back to studies his masters in a Belgian college, a research project highlighting the Irish language in the six counties of Northern Ireland.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cillian spoke about how he uses the language in his day-to-day life.
Cillian said: "Its not just in a classroom environment. Its actually a living language.
"I use it everyday, I use it with my friends. When we're playing football, because there is so many translators, we speak Irish together.
"You need those social spaces. The schools in Monaghan are doing a great job. On top of that, there needs to be space to use it outside of education as well, I think," Cillian added.
