A Co Monaghan barrister has been appointed a Judge of the Circuit Court.
Castleblayney native Kenneth Connolly qualified as a Barrister in 1994 and is a past pupil of Our Lady's Secondary school, Castleblayney.
He worked as a Junior Counsel across the Northern Circuit, covering Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim and Donegal.
He was nominated to the role following the appointment of Mr Justice Rory MacCabe to the High Court in January of this year.
The Cabinet agreed to the appointment this week.
Meanwhile, Mr Connolly said he was "greatly honoured" to accept the appointment as a Judge of the Circuit Court.
