Monaghan student says mixed format of Leaving Cert should be retained

Minister Norma Foley says plans for next year will be kept under review.

Points for courses are likely to increase this year following record breaking results.

Overall grade inflation was up 2.6 percent on 2020.

Almost a quarter of students taking higher level chemistry got H1 grades, double the average in the years 2017 to 2019.

The Education Minister is optimistic the Leaving Cert exams can return to the traditional format next year.

In Monaghan, 801 received their results, with a further 54 getting LCA results, while in Cavan there are 766, and 69 respectively.

Monaghan's Meabh Cusack was among those receiving results this morning.

She says the Department should consider keeping the mixed format of written exams and predictive grades.
