Young students from Monaghan launched their "bogtastic" displays of Sliabh Beagh Mountain earlier today.

Children from schools across Monaghan and Tyrone in the Sliabh Beagh area have launched their "bogtastic" display exploring the nature of Sliabh Beagh Mountain.

Seamus Heaney's poem 'The Tollund Man' was the basis of the schools' programme that was delivered by the Tydavnet Group Water Scheme as part of the Collaborative Action for the Natura Network project.

Classroom learning was taken out onto the mountain in a series of field trips for the nine schools involved, where children were introduced to the special plants and animals that make their home on Sliabh Beagh.

The children then came together to create a display of photography, art, poems and science which sums up their experiences on Sliabh Beagh, which was launched this morning at the Sliabh Beagh Hotel, Ireland's only community- owned hotel.

Local councillor Cathy Bennett, is chair of the Sliabh Beagh Partnership.

Speaking to Northern Sound, she said that she was "delighted" to be at the launch.
