Students from Inver College and Beech Hill College will now go on to represent Monaghan in the Regional Final.

Students from Inver College Carrickmacross, Beech Hill College in Monaghan and St Macartan's College in Monaghan took first, second and third place at this year's Monaghan TY Young Cook of the Year Competition. The competition took place in Monaghan Institute on Wednesday.

One of the judges praised the standard of cooking. Sean Redmond of Andy's Bar in Monaghan said all the students "did themselves proud" and the standard on display "exceptional". The students from Inver College and Beech Hill College will now go on to represent Monaghan in the Regional Final which will be held in Cavan Institute in April.

Now, the Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board are calling for all "budding chefs" who may be interested in completing a Commis Chef Apprenticeship in Cavan Institute, to check out the Cavan Institute website for more details at www.cavaninstitute.ie
