Ireland manager told Daire "the courage and positivity you have, how you live your life, is an example for all of us"

When Monaghan schoolboy Daire Gorman met with the Irish National rugby team yesterday, head coach Andy Farrell said the 12-year-old's positive outlook on life "was an example for all of us". Earlier this year, Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp praised Daire for his passion after seeing a video of him getting emotional during a rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" in Anfield.

After that video went viral, he was invited onto the Ireland Am sofa alongside fellow Monaghan man, Tommy Bowe, and the pair talked all-things rugby. The call-up then came from Andy Farrell and yesterday, Daire and his rugby-mad mum, Shelley travelled to the HPC in Dublin to meet the Irish team and manager. Daire has Crommelin Syndrome which means he was born without arms from the elbow down.

The Ireland manager told Daire "the courage and positivity you have and how you live your life is an example for all of us". Modest and unfazed, Daire is grateful for the opportunity to meet his heroes: "It is some credit, yeah," Daire told Northern Sound, "It's amazing for the Irish rugby manager to say that off me and I can't thank everybody enough for the day I had yesterday."
