More arrests expected next year in relation to Lunney assault

Presiding Judge of the Special Criminal Court, Mr Justice Tony Hunt, said he was reserving life sentences for those who organised or financed the crimes.

More people are expected to be arrested in the new year for their involvement in the assault and abduction of Kevin Lunney.

Yesterday, three men were jailed for a combined 70 years for falsely imprisoning and causing serious harm to the Fermanagh businessman in September 2019.

Presiding Judge of the Special Criminal Court, Mr Justice Tony Hunt, said he was reserving life sentences for those who organised or financed the crimes.

Crime Correspondent with the Irish Independent Paul Williams told Shannonside Northern Sound that progress is being made investigating money trails between Cyril McGuinness and so-called paymasters.
