More communions and confirmations to go ahead despite health advice

A number of Bishops have approved the ceremonies.

Priests in the country's largest diocese have been told they can proceed with communions and confirmations if they wish.

Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell, says they should be shorter, simpler and smaller ceremonies than normal.

Five other bishops say they're going ahead with the sacraments - against public health guidelines.

Confirmations and communions will resume in Clogher Diocese this month, while only confirmations will in Kilmore Diocese.

Junior Children's Minister, Anne Rabbitte, says it's the wrong decision:
