Motorist clocked at over 140 kmph during speed and safety checks on the N3

A motorist was clocked at over 140 kmph in Co Cavan yesterday.

The detection was one of a number made by Cavan Roads Policing Unit while carrying out speed and safety checks on the N3 early yesterday morning.

In total, eight motorists received Fixed Payment Notices for speeding and overtaking on continuous white lines.

One motorist was detected at 143 kmph, while another was clocked at 132 kmph.

Local gardaí are using the incident to remind motorists to slow down.
