A number of motorists have been detected in breach of the Road Traffic Act by Gardai in Monaghan. Local Gardai stopped a car, and following an inspection, discovered the NCT had expired by six months.
The driver was arrested after failing a road side drug test and the car was taken off the road. Meanwhile, members of the Monaghan Roads Policing Unit detected a van travelling at 147 km/ph in a 100 km/ph zone on the N2.
This driver also failed the roadside drug test and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with a number of offences under the Road Traffic Act and will appear before the courts in due course.
