A mother and her two young children who died following a tragic shooting in Co Fermanagh have been named locally.
The killings of Vanessa Whyte (45) along with her teenage children Sara Rutledge (13) and James Rutledge (14) has been described by locals as "devastating."
The three family members died following a shooting at a house in Maguiresbridge yesterday.
A man who was also found inside the house is being treated in hospital for serious injuries.
PSNI Superintendent Robert Magowan says they are investigating a suspected murder and attempted suicide.
In a a statement published online, St Mary’s Maguiresbridge GFC said: We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those impacted by the tragic incident which happened in our community. We are working with the GAA at county, provincial and national level, to implement the Association’s critical incident protocols.
"We will work closely with all appropriate services to ensure that those who require support at this difficult time can access it. The deceased were all active and beloved members of our club. We will not be making any further comment at this difficult time."
Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly expressed their shock at a mother and her two children being killed. In a joint statement they both said: "We are deeply saddened by the events which have unfolded in Maguiresbridge. Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims and their families, and the wider community. We want to pay tribute to and thank our emergency services who responded to the incident."
