'National Childhood Network would not be here were it not for the Good Friday Agreement'

The National Childhood Network is holding its annual conference in Monaghan tomorrow, which will also celebrate 25 years of the organisation.

The National Childhood Network would not be here were it not for the Good Friday Agreement and the work of people like John Hume.

That’s according to NCN’s outgoing CEO Denise McCormilla, and comes as the organisation prepares to hold its annual conference in Monaghan tomorrow.

The conference will also celebrate 25 years of the National Childhood Network.

The event begins at 9.30 am tomorrow morning in the Garage Theatre, and Denise says she’s excited about welcoming stakeholders from right across the country to discuss ways of supporting and promoting the childcare service’s sector.

NCN was established in 1997 as the ‘Border Counties Childcare Network’ in response to a need for pre-school services.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Denise explained how crucial peace and reconciliation talks were to childcare services locally:
