National Volunteer Week is currently underway across the Northern Sound region.
A number of events are taking place in Co Monaghan throughout the week.
Sinead Keenan of the Monaghan Volunteer Centre said this week provides an important opportunity to celebrate volunteers and the amazing contribution that they make to individuals and communities.
To mark the initiative, the Carrickmacross migrant volunteer group helped a local community creche to repaint its fences and plant a garden earlier today.
The local volunteering organisation also announced today on social the names of the 20 volunteers who have each won a 25 euro County Monaghan gift card.
These individuals were nominated by their organisations and the public.
On Friday, Monaghan Integrated Development staff will volunteer to clear part of Monaghan Way amongst many other things this week.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Sinead believes that volunteering is a force for good, and central to creating and sustaining an inclusive society.
