Palliative care support beds in St Christopher's, Cavan are being relocated to accommodate a new purpose built development. In a statement to Northern Sound, the HSE said its National Service Plan
2022 has given priority to progress the development of a new specialist palliative care inpatient unit in Cavan, which will serve the population of Cavan and Monaghan. As a result, the existing palliative care support beds will be temporarily relocating from St Christopher's Campus to accommodation across the region
from this week.

The HSE says the move will enable the commencement of the 16-bed Specialist Palliative Care Inpatient Unit on the campus of St Christopher's in Cavan. "The HSE welcomes continued working with the St Christopher's Hospice Committee in the progression of the development of the new specialist palliative care inpatient unit.

"We wish to acknowledge the ongoing support and engagement with our acute services, specialist palliative care services Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan; and Cavan Monaghan Disability Services in progressing this transition," the statement said.
