Newtownbutler security alert ends following controlled explosion

Cordons that had been placed at Drumcru Road, Bun Road and Crom Road have now been lifted.

A controlled explosion's been carried out on a suspicious object which caused a security alert in Co Fermanagh. The alert happened in the Drumcru and Bun Road areas of Newtownbutler. PSNI Superintendent Robert McGowan said cordons that had been placed at Drumcru Road, Bun Road and Crom Road have now been lifted and all roads had reopened. “A device discovered in the area has now been removed for further examination after Ammunition Technical Officers carried out a controlled explosion on the object,” he said.

A further security alert in the Ballynahone Crescent area of Armagh's ended - a number of items have been taken for examination.
