A group of local men from the region have successfully completed a mammoth cycling challenge of 642km from Malin Head to Mizen Head in aid of Cavan Monaghan palliative care.
The nine lads that include eight from Co Cavan and one from Longford began their challenge at 6am on Monday morning and finished up last night.
The guys have already amassed over €15,000 through their go fund me page and that figure is set to rise even further. The lads decided to take on this gruelling challenge in an effort to make a difference and help out the local palliative care service who has done so much for so many families from across Cavan and Monaghan.
The group of cyclists was made up of Stephen Crowe, Kenneth Mc Manus, Shane O Neill, Mark Finnegan, Joseph Prior, Sean Grimes, Paul Carrol, Stephen Cassidy, Noel Fitzpatrick and Phillip Mc Goldrick who is driving the support vehicle over the next four days. Local firefighter Stephen Crowe said the challenge was a way of giving back to Cavan Monaghan palliative care.
