Gardai in Cavan and Monaghan are reporting a busy bank holiday weekend.
A number of arrests were made for drink and drugs driving across the division.
Last night, gardai in Monaghan observed a car entering a roundabout in an erratic manner. It then crossed the continuous white line and swerved onto the incorrect side of the road.
The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
He was found to be 10 times over the legal limit.
Meanwhile, gardai say a "serious road traffic collision" may have been prevented as a result of their actions.
They also established there was a bench warrant in existence for the driver.
The car was taken off the road for no NCT and no tax.
Gardai in the division say both its Road Policing Units and Regular Units are committed to making local roads "safer."
