Attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harassment and burglaries are all down during the third quarter of 2023.

There has been a marked reduction in the number of attempted murders, serious assaults and other violent crimes across Cavan and Monaghan. That’s according to recent figures from the Central Statistics Office.

Attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harassment and burglaries during the third quarter of 2023 all showed noticeable decreases when compared to 12 months earlier. There were 225 attempts/threats to murder, assaults, harassments and related offences in the Cavan/Monaghan Garda Division during the third quarter of 2023.

That was over 30 fewer than its 2022 equivalent. Similar downward trends were recorded in road traffic related offences with 74 motorists being caught for suspected drink driving in the three month period in 2022, compared to a total of 54 during the third quarter of 2023.
