Number of people with 3rd level qualification rises locally

The number of people with a third level qualification in Cavan increased from nearly 15,600 in 2016 to almost 20,000 in 2022. While the number of people with a third level qualification in the county of Monaghan rose from nearly 12,400 in 2016 to almost 15,400 over the same period. That's according to recent figures from the Central Statistics Office.

This was a rate increase of 38% in Cavan and 37% in Monaghan compared with 45% nationally. There were 208 people in Cavan who held a PhD, which was 0.5% of all PhD holders in the country. While 154 people in Monaghan held a PhD which was 0.4% of all PhD holders in the country.
