According to the latest CSO figures, 2,758 people in Cavan were on the live register last month, and 2,073 in Monaghan.

Co Cavan has seen one of the biggest decrease in people in the country on the live register over the past 12 months with a drop of 12.5%.  4,831 people were on the live register across Cavan and Monaghan in March.

The Live register records the number of people registering for Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance or any other entitlements at offices of the Department of Social Protection. According to the latest CSO figures, 2,758 people in Cavan were on the live register last month. While the number of people accessing the supports in Monaghan were 2,073.

1471 males 1287 females in Cavan were on the live register and 997 females 1076 males were registered for government supports in Monaghan. Nationally, the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for March 2024 stood at 173,396. While, the 35-44 age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register at the end of 2023. In March 2024 there were 111,463 people on the Live Register for less than one year, which was 6,122 fewer people than March 2023.
