Three victims of domestic abuse in Cavan and two in Monaghan have accessed rent supplement under Government measures to assist those under coercive control or experiencing violence in their homes.
It allows victims to continue accessing rent supplement for a three month period so they are not prevented from leaving their home because of financial concerns.
Deputy Niamh Smyth who asked the Minister for Social Protection in a parliamentary question about the numbers accessing the rent supplement in each county to date, says given the extent of the problem, the numbers accessing the scheme are low.
