Over 2,100 parking fines have been issued by Monaghan County Council last year.
The figures which show a marked reduction in fines in the county compared to that of 2023 when the figure was 3,441.
Parking fines range from 40 to 150 euro. The fines issued range from illegal parking in disabled parking bays, footpaths, cycle tracks, and bus lanes.
These also comprise of non-display of correct tax discs and pay-and-display tickets.
Tickets not clearly displayed on the dashboard, causing an obstruction and taking up more than one space were all other factors for the fines to be issued in the county.
Pay parking operates in Monaghan Town only. Parking charges in Monaghan Town are on-street parking: €0.50 per hour, with a maximum stay of 2 hours, after which the vehicle must be moved.
Short-stay car parks: €0.50 per hour, with a maximum stay of 4 hours.
Long-stay car parks: €1.00 for up to 24 hours. In the other towns throughout the county of Monaghan, free on-street parking is available for up to two hours, after which vehicles must be moved.
Free all-day parking is also available in designated public car parks.
