Extreme temperatures are causing heatstroke in pets according to a local vet in Co Cavan.
Josh Clarke from rom Cavan vet clinic in Corlurgan Business Park in Cavan say a number of dogs have been brought to the clinic in recent days suffering from heatstroke.
He was speaking to Northern Sound as the recent spell of hot weather is causing concerns for a lot of pet owners.

Josh said things like a hot pavement, leaving your pet in a hot vehicle and underlying respiratory issues can all be dangerous in the hot weather.
The Co Cavan based vet says heatstroke can be fatal if it is not dealt with as a matter of urgency.
Josh outlined what to do if you suspect heatstroke in a dog throughout the summer months when he joined Ronan Gargan on the show.
