Over 600 extra primary school teacher training places announced

610 extra places are being provided to train primary school teachers. Education Minister Norma Foley says 320 of them will be up for grabs this year, with the remaining 290 coming on stream in 2024.

The courses will be on offer at DCU, Mary Immaculate College, Marino Institute of Education and Maynooth University. The Department of Education says it's "anticipated that demand for primary teachers over the next number of years will exceed previous expectations."
