Over €40,000 has been allocated to local animal welfare organisations as part of a multi-million euro government fund.
The grants were made as part of National Animal Welfare Day by the Department of Agriculture.
In the Northern Sound Region, two Cavan organisations have been awarded funds under the programme.

Cavan SPCA will benefit from €34,500, while the Kitten Cottage in Virginia has been granted €6,000.
