Over €50 million in funding will go towards roads across the Northern Sound region in 2026.
Figures released by the Department of Transport this afternoon indicate that €1.5 billion will be allocated to roads nationally.
Locally, Cavan County Councill will receive €24.9 million in 2026, with €19.1 million going towards regional roads, and €5.8 million going towards national roads.

Projects for national roads include the N3 Virginia Bypass.
In Co. Monaghan, €27.3 million has been allocated for 2026. €17.1 million will go to regional roads, and €10.1 million will go towards national roads.
National road projects in Monaghan include the N2 Ardee to South of Castleblayney, and the N2 Clontibret to the Border.
