Just over €64,000 in funding has been granted to boost swimming pools in the region.
Minister Catherine Martin and Minister of State Jack Chambers have this morning announced a package of €2.5 million for pool operators across the country.
Locally there are 6 swimming pools that are set to benefit from it.
In Cavan the Farnham Estate has been allocated €7,818, Cavan swimming pool has received €10,567, Bailieborough swimming pool is set to get €9,107, and the Slieve Russell Hotel will get €8,677.
In Monaghan Coral Leisure will receive the largest sum in the region with an allocation of €11,512, while the Hillgrove Hotel has received €7,302, and the Glencarn Hotel and Leisure Centre got €9,021
Local TD Niamh Smyth says the sector has been hit hard with the cost of running a pool remaining high despite closures.
