A pedestrian access to a small housing estate in Ballyjamesduff is proving “very dangerous” for children.
That’s what Cathaoirleach, Cllr Trevor Smith told those gathered during this week’s municipal district meeting which was held Monday.
Those gathered heard that the access at Grove Park - a small development of about 20 houses - onto the Dublin Road was close to a bend and local children were using it to get to school.
Cllr Smith also pointed out that he had observed children “darting across the road” from the access in the mornings as they were going to school.
“It’s very dangerous,” he added
“I am proposing the closure of that access.”
Meanwhile, Cavan County Council admitted the access was in a dangerous location and highlighted how there was a plan in place to remove it.
“At the moment the access is being surveyed; once that is complete we will approach the NTA for funding,” the local authority added.
“If that is successful I would expect work to begin in the first quarter of next year.”
