People are being advised not to pour fats, oils and greases down their kitchen sink over the coming weeks

The Think Before You Pour campaign has teamed up with a local chef to appeal to the public not to pour fats, oils and greases

The Think Before You Pour campaign has teamed up with a local chef to appeal to the public not to pour fats, oils and greases down the kitchen sink over
the next few weeks.

It's operated by Clean Coasts in partnership with Irish Water and Cavan chef Neven Maguire and reminds people F.O.Gs, when poured down drains can cause
blockages in homes, the public sewer network and wastewater treatment plants, leading to overflows of sewage and fatbergs.

Irish Water clears approximately 2,000 blockages from the wastewater network each week and are urging people not to use their sink as a bin this
Christmas.
