Construction on a greenway between Middletown and Smithborough could get underway within a year. Public Information Events are currently being held to discuss the preferred route, with planning applications expected to be approved by the end of 2020.
The route will follow the Ulster Canal and connect to either side of the greenway in Monaghan town. Anthony Morrow is the project manager, and explained what the next steps will be after planning is secured:
