'PRIDE' music session hits Cavan Town this weekend

Martin says whether you're local or from another country, young or old, regardless of your background, music connects people and brings everyone together.

A 'Pride' Irish music session will take place on Sunday as part of the 'Not Your Average Hooley' music festival which is coming to Cavan town this weekend. The 'Not Your Average Hooley' Co Cavan Traditional Music Festival will run from today until the 17th of March. 'Rainbow Reels' are group of 12 musicians from Belfast who are also part of the LGBTQ+ community and will play in the Farnham Arms Hotel on the Main Street in Cavan from 4:30pm. The following day, a group of Ukrainian and Indian musicians will also treat audiences to a two hour music session.

Martin Donohoe is the event's musical director and chairperson of the NYAH music festival. Speaking to Northern Sound, Martin says traditional music is "like a family" in which nobody is ever left out:
